Do I need to be technical to work with Skyclad?
No. The whole point of Skyclad is that we're the technical side of your company. Most of the founders we work with come from operations, business, finance, healthcare, defence, or industry backgrounds. You bring the domain and the vision; we bring the technology leadership and the engineering team.
Do you take equity in my company?
Yes. Skyclad Ventures takes the co-founder position on the cap table, with equity from day one. The exact split is something we agree in writing before any serious build begins. Equity reflects the technical risk the studio carries and the long-term commitment we are making — your company becomes a Skyclad portfolio company. If equity isn't the right shape for what you need, Connex Labs handles engineering delivery on cash terms, and Skyclad Signal handles advisory on cash terms.
What makes Skyclad different from other technical partners?
Skyclad Ventures co-founds the company with you. Your company becomes a portfolio company of the studio. 16+ years of building and exiting multi-million-dollar startups inform the technology decisions. A senior engineering team arrives through our partner studio Connex Labs, ready to work.
How quickly can we start?
Our usual first conversation happens within a week of you reaching out. From there, a serious engagement can begin in two to four weeks — we use that window to understand the problem deeply, shape a realistic plan, and assemble the right people around it.
What if I only have an early-stage idea?
That's often the best time to talk to us. Early-stage is where the wrong technical decision compounds for years. We help shape what to build first and what not to waste money on before the idea has been tested.
Which regions do you work in?
We work with founders across MENA (with our base in Dubai, UAE), Singapore and wider South-East Asia, and the US East Coast.
What kinds of companies do you work with?
SaaS, marketplaces, fintech, healthtech, AI products, and complex software where engineering quality is part of the product. The common thread is that these are companies where the software has to work under real load with real users, and where getting the technology wrong has direct business consequences.
Who actually builds the product?
A Skyclad partner leads the technical side as the studio's representative in your company: architecture, hiring, the calls that have to be made. The engineering team comes through Connex Labs (connexlabs.dev), our partner studio. Connex Labs is the engineering team we trust most and the one we route to when Skyclad portfolio companies move from idea to running system. The two firms work as partners; neither owns the other. Operationally, it means you get a senior engineering team without the hiring lag.
